Ways to share Files and Folder from a MacBook

It’s the time when the technology is at its topmost point and we look for the ways to complete every task in the least time. One of the problems we face is to transfer files from MacBook to another MacBook or a Windows PC. So here are the ways to share files and folder from your Mac computer.

AirDrop:

AirDrop is one of the best methods to transfer between two Macs running OS X Lion. The major benefit of using AirDrop is that you don’t need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. What you need is that your computers are in same range and an ad-hoc network will be created between the two Macs. By using AirDrop, you can transfer WebPages, files, contacts etc between different Mac computers, iPads, and iPhones running IOS. In order to transfer data, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both the devices should be enabled. There is no limit on the amount of data that can be transferred but the only thing is that it more data takes more time to get transferred. Multiple files can also be transferred at a time. So how to use it?  There will be an option under share menu on both Apple mobile devices and Mac computers. On a Mac computer click on AirDrop in Finder’s section and it will reveal a list of compatible nearby devices.

Cloud Storage Services:

Cloud storage is mainly good to transfer small to medium files, sharing with Windows and non-Apple operating systems.
Cloud storage services offer generous free, usually only requiring payment if you intend to exceed the amount of free storage provided. They’re best for quickly sharing a file, and with the right software installed. iCloud available with apple cannot be used for sharing data with our own devices. But there are some real sharing capabilities in iCloud. The major exceptions are shared Photo Streams in the Photos app and shared iWork documents in Sheets, Pages and Keynote and they require Apple user ID and a relevant device.

Bit Torrent and BT Sync:

Bit Torrent and BT Sync is mainly suitable for sharing large files of any size privately or publicly. How to use this? First we need to download a Bit Torrent client; next, you send the small file to a friend or upload it to the web. Then these files will act as signposts, pointing users to the file which will then download directly from your device.

Local Network sharing:

When you are on the same network, you can easily set up a shared folder and manage for the users and can be accessed by them. It is very simple to use. Just drop the files in the folder which you want to share. Now talking about the size, size is not the issue in this case but the issue is a speed of transfer. Time taken for transfer will depend upon the size of data to be transferred and it will require user’s patience.

Other Hosting Services:

Other hosting services like Jumpshare, Mega, nfiles can also be used to share of varying sizes and simplifying the sharing process. Cloud services are best when it comes to backup data, synchronize with the computer and it will appear as another folder in your Mac computer.
