Enable Hidden Dark Theme In Windows 10


Windows 10 default theme consists of bright colours. But Microsoft developed a hidden dark theme for windows 10. So today we are going to explore the method that will let you enable the hidden dark theme on your Windows 10.



As Windows 10 becomes very common these days, we bring you tech-tip to enable Window 10’s hidden dark theme, which is by default disabled in Windows 10. The method is based on registry edit of Windows 10 and so you have to be careful and carry out the steps correctly to enable hidden dark theme in your Windows 10.




Just follow these simple steps below to proceed:-

1. In your windows 10 PC Press “Win+R” to open Run explorer. Into that enter regedit for the Registry Editor windows to open.

2. In the Registry Editor window, navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ->SOFTWARE ->Microsoft ->Windows -> Current Version -> Themes




3. Right click on the Theme folder and select Create Key and name it as Personalize and then come to the right side panel.


4. Right-click in the blank space and then select New -> DWORD Value. Now a new DWORD file will get created there.



5. Name the newly created DWORD as AppsUseLightTheme if you’re on Windows 10 final build. Now double click on the AppsUseLightTheme (SystemUsesLightTheme in the earlier version), and make its value 0.

6. Do the steps from 2 to 5 for the next location below.

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Themes -> Personalize




7. Reboot your system for settings to take effect (Apply).
